Woodland Woman Loses Husband, House In Same Day

WOODLAND (CBS13) -- A great-grandmother lost her husband and nearly everything she owns all in one day.

The 91-year-old Woodland woman's husband died Tuesday morning, and while her family was arranging funeral plans, they got a call that her house was burning.

No one was was living in the home for the past three years, but it was filled from floor to ceiling with more than 50 years worth of memories.

"My great-grandfather passed away this morning," Aliyah Moreno said. "We come home and got a phone call and see this happen so it's pretty hard for all of us to take right now."

Firefighters say the cause could be arson or an electrical issue. They say it started in a back room and spread quickly, destroying the home and nearly everything in it.
