Just in time for about a zillion outdoor events this weekend, it's about to get hot and windy!

The strongest gusts for the rest the day around Stockton and Modesto will be about 20-30 mph with valley highs in mid-to-upper 80s. Then things get really interesting this weekend. Here's what you can expect:

• North winds 15 to 25 mph gusting up to 35 mph during the day Friday and Saturday.
• Strongest winds expected on the west side of the Sacramento Valley and the adjacent mountains and foothills
• Afternoon valley high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s on Friday to Sunday (10-15 degrees above normal)
• Potential mountain thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday. With dry lightning comes an increased fire threat.
