Warmer, Wetter Weather Ahead For Northern California Next Week

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The new year has gotten off to a cold start, but the weather will be changing starting Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service, wet weather will begin moving into Northern California on Saturday night into Sunday. However, this system will be focused over the Coastal Range and Shasta County and is not expected to be a serious weather-maker, with precipitation being generally less than 0.5 inches.

Expect a few inches of snow to fall at about 4,000 feet, with snow levels being in the 3,500 to 4,500 feet range.

A much more significant storm will be showing up Monday and lasting until Wednesday.

NWS forecasters say the wettest day could be Tuesday. Between 0.5 to 2 inches of precipitation could fall.

With this being a warmer weather pattern, snow levels are expected to be higher in elevation.

By the end of the week, even more wet weather could be coming. However, it is still a little unclear at this point.
