Vallejo Boy Dies After Colliding With Recycling Truck
VALLEJO (CBS13) -- A 12-year-old boy has died and 8-year-old friend was seriously injured after they collided with a recycling truck in Vallejo on Friday afternoon.
The two boys were riding down a hill on one skateboard down Chapman Court when they ran into the truck on Linfield Drive. The driver of the Recology truck tried to swerve but couldn't avoid hitting the two boys.
The 8-year-old was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland. The other boy dies at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. The truck driver also was taken to Kaiser because he was so upset after the accident that his blood pressure skyrocketed.
"Recology extends its deepest sympathies to the friends and families of the skateboarder who died after being hit by one of our collection vehicles today," said company spokesman Adam Alberti in an email to CBS13. "We are hopeful for a full recovery of the second skateboarder who was injured in the accident."
The names of the boys and the driver weren't immediately available.
