Two In Fair Oaks Hospitalized With Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
FAIR OAKS (CBS13) -- Two Fair Oaks residents had to be hospitalized with what fire officials said was carbon monoxide poisoning on Wednesday.
Sacramento Metro Fire responded to a house in the 4000 block of Quail Meadow Way at 11:30 a.m. after a 911 report of an unconscious man in the home and a second person complaining of a headache.
Fire crews arrived to find a gas-powered electrical generator operating in an enclosed attached garage. Firefighters used air monitors in the home and found elevated levels of carbon monoxide. Both of the home's occupants were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Sacramento Metro Fire issued a reminder that carbon monoxide detectors are required in all single-family homes. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas produced from incomplete burning of carbon-based materials such as wood or gas. If undetected, carbon monoxide can cause illness and death.
