Twin Rivers K-9 Dies After Training Exercise Accident
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A police K-9 with the Twin Rivers Unified School District was killed during a training exercise on Wednesday.
Officers say Jag was struck and by a big rig during a training exercise. He was taken to a veterinarian's office where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The training exercise was inside a West Sacramento warehouse, though how Jag ended up outside and struck by the big rig is under investigation.
Sgt. Matthew Scott described Jag as a great ambassador who would go out with officers to the schools and said he is probably one of their most well-known officers.
Jag specialized in apprehending suspects and conducting drug searches.
The Twin Rivers District Police Department serves the schools in the Twin Rivers Unified School District, which covers North Sacramento.
