THE LIST- 3 Takeaways from the 49ers Opener
Every day on Halftime, Nate and I have a LIST topic. Today we looked back at the 49ers home and season opening win over the Minnesota Vikings and gave our top 3 takeaways from the game.
The 3 takeaways from the 49ers Opener:
Nate's LIST:
- 49ers Defense- This group was once the bread and butter and certainly looked the part again last night.
- Still some concerns with the head coach- Though the team got the win, Nate was concerned with all the penalties which is a reflection of the head coach.
- Carlos Hyde- Nate loved his overall play. Hyde was everywhere and did things in the zone blocking scheme that impressed everyone, 168 yards and 2 touchdowns made him the star of the game.
Jason's LIST:
- It was a coaching win- The 49ers coaching staff took a beating in the off-season, but they were on their game vs. Minnesota. Offensive tweaks and more blitzing by the defense seem to surprise the Vikings. Coach Tomsoula sure did get ripped in the off-season but you have to praise him when they win.
- Defense, defense, defense- Imagine if those guys that left this group came back? They locked down Adrian Peterson and Navarro Bowman was all over the field. This group still has a look of a potentially dominate defense.
- Carlos Hyde- "Hyde your wife, Hyde your kids", Carlos was on fire last night. He showed all the moves in week 1 in his first NFL start. The Niners fans will still miss Frank Gore but Hyde will get a lot of work and looks like a guy that will put up great results.
