The Latest: Ex Sought In 16-Year-Old Girl's Stabbing Death

PICO RIVERA, Calif. (AP) — The Latest on the fatal stabbing of a girl in her Southern California home (all times local):

3 p.m.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the teenager suspected in the stabbing death of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend.

The sheriff's department has been searching for 17-year-old Rory Murga since the 3 a.m. Friday stabbing.

They released two photos of the teen in hopes the public will recognize him and help lead to his capture. One shows the teen with green hair and a serious face. The other shows him smiling with longer black hair and a swath of bangs died light brown.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Eddie Hernandez says 16-year-old Elena Moore was stabbed at least once in the chest in her Pico Rivera home. He says she repeatedly screamed Rory's name as she collapsed and died in front of her mother shortly after.

Hernandez says Rory is a suspect and that investigators are running down several leads to track him down.

He says evidence at the scene also ties Rory to the home and that investigators have recovered what's believed to be the weapon used — a kitchen knife.

Hernandez says Elena broke up with Rory two weeks ago after the pair had dated for about a year.
