The Don Geronimo Show - November 11, 2011

Don begins the day by reading the reviews of the new Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill. Despite Don's certainty that the movie will be hilarious, many publications are ripping it to shreds, giving it zero and half stars. Don also got a call from a buddy of his who is also friends with Rich Eisen, and says it may take another interview or two for Rich to warm up to Don again. The guys talk about the Penn St. scandal as well, and the hypocrisy of Sandusky being released on bail, while Dr. Murray remains in jail. Today is Veteran's Day, and throughout the show Don expresses his appreciation for all the Vets who make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our great nation so we all can live free. Don also plays a few of his favorite clips from Patton, his favorite war movie.

Don then tells us about a British rugby player who suffered a stroke on the field, and when he regained consciousness, became gay. We also hear about a Honolulu woman who ate a sandwich at a Safeway and forgot to pay for it, which got her arrested. Slow Joe chimes in with his take on shoplifting, having worked at Home Depot and dealing with it regularly. This leads Don to talk about the JCPenney surveillance videos he and his friends at WAVA had access to that they used to watch regularly. The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band stops by the KNCI studio across the hall, and Don manages to get them to stop in the KHTK studio to play a few tunes as well.

Don then goes through a variety of news stories, including Billy Crystal now hosting the Oscars, Howard Stern possibly being a judge on America's Got Talent, and a new ad campaign by the U.S. Government entitled "The United States of Awesome Possibilities," and their new website, discoveramerica.com. We also hear about Barry Williams (from the Brady Bunch) charging for birthday visits and greetings, Conrad Murray saying that Michael Jackson was a bedwetter, and Maury Povich wanting to air Justin Bieber's paternity test. We then get into another discussion about Veteran's Day, and Don's appreciation for all those who served in the military, especially those who fought in our wars.

After hearing about a Phoenix man who met a girl online and got stabbed by her 300 times in a satanic ritual, Don tells us about a new Budweiser beer, Bud Platinum, which is 6% alcohol. We then hear a clip of a young kid who doesn't stop crying until Notorious B.I.G. is playing, and a clip of The Daily Show's John Stewart ripping Joe Paterno supporters. It it then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Among the stories today: The current GOP polls, Rick Perry doing the Top 10 list on Letterman, and the new Call Of Duty game making $600 million the first day. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
