The Don Geronimo Show - January 26, 2012
Today Don begins by telling us that the guy with the mechanical bull flaked on us at about 9:45 last night, and then describes the Twitter war that ensued between Dave and Little Joe. The guys then get into a discussion that was initiated by Phantom before the show this morning about whether or not Jesus Christ was born with the name "Jesus Christ." Don also tells us about the phone call he got from the Pastor at Gospel Light Church, home of the famous "Looking For A City" youtube video. After discussing the differences between "Password" and "$25,000 Pyramid," and even playing a few rounds, Don calls in Craig to try the salmon doggy treats he got for Oscar, to see if it gives Craig the same gas it gives his dog.
Don then tells us that Pat Sajak has admitted to doing episodes of "Wheel Of Fortune" while intoxicated, and that Demi Moore was rushed to the hospital because she almost O.D.'d on whip-its. This gets the guys on a discussion about LSD, and Dave even tells us about his first acid trip. We then get a visit from Professional Bull Rider Ryan McConnel. Ryan, who will be in the Professional Bull Riding event at Power Balance Arena this weekend, tells us about his career in bull riding, and the injuries he's sustained, and even gets the Hot Seat quiz from Don!
We then hear a clip from the Mayor of East Haven Connecticut, who made insensitive remarks about the Latino community, and then kept digging himself deeper into trouble. We also hear clips of a woman giving birth in her own car, a kid in a spelling bee asking the judges to repeat the word "heron" about a zillion times, and the Australian Transport Minister ripping off lines from "American President" in one of his speeches. We then get a visit from legendary rocker Eddie Money in the studio! Eddie, who's performing at Tommy T's tonight and tomorrow, talks about partying with Don in the 80's, performing his hits nearly 4 decades later, and tells us how well he knew Paula Abdul in the 70's.
After Eddie leaves, Don tells us that the East Haven Mayor just apologized on CNN, then sees that Eddie is on Good Day Sacramento performing. Don then calls places in China to wish them a happy Chinese New Year. It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Today, among the stories: 15% of all Americans would miss the birth of their own kid to go to the Super Bowl, Madonna will have Cee Lo performing with her during the Super Bowl halftime show, "The Office" is working on a spinoff featuring Dwight, and Jay Leno being sued over a "Golden Temple" joke. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
