The Don Geronimo Show - February 29, 2012
Today is Leap Day, and Don wants anyone who was born on 2/29 to call up the show. Dave then tells us about last night's Kings game, and the ovations Mayor Kevin Johnson, and Joe and Gavin Maloof got from the Kings fans. Dave also tells us about the awkward encounter with Kings G.M. Geoff Petrie yesterday, in light of the way his wife Ann Marie embraced Dave during the show yesterday. After Phantom does "Oscar style" intros for Don and Dave, we hear the top 20 most overplayed movie trailer songs, and then Don gives a call to Chris Johnson, owner of the welding shop in Elk Grove, where a naked man came in looking for a job. After seeing the hilarious video on the news numerous times the past few days, Chris informs us that the naked man was HIV positive, which means every person at the shop that day has to get tested.
After a discussion about whether or not retired Engineer Bruce Hirsh lives a double-life, and a visit from Naked Lady Di, which leads to a discussion of who would be on the "Ladies of GDS" calendar, Bipolar Mary calls in, as does Janice, who apparently hates Bipolar Mary, and wants nothing to do with a calendar that has Mary in it. Mary calls back, and it turns into an all out WWE style smack battle! This gets the guys into talking about bum fighting, and Don decides he wants bums at the station tomorrow. The guys then discuss ways to round up as many bums as they can.
After hearing about a guy in North Carolina who drank gasoline, then lit up a cigarette and burned to death, and another man who was driving drunk with a butt plug and rear ended another car, Don reads a poll on Gallup.com, on the happiest and most miserable states in the U.S., and then plays a list of the "Top 25 Most Inspirational Songs Of All Time," a list that the guys vehemently disagree with. It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour."
Today, Phantom talks about actor Mo Green turning 76 today, Mitt Romney winning the Arizona and Michigan primaries, the Nielsen ratings from the past week, and the top 10 rejected movie sequels. After the guys play a round of "Steakhouse or Gay Bar," Don wraps everything up with a caller 100.
