The Don Geronimo Show - December 15, 2011
Today Don begins with Little Joe's Suburban breaking down on the way to the station this morning, and Slow Joe having to help him out. Don then asks, what the hell is wrong with the Duggars? The parents of 19 children, who just had a micarriage of their 20th last week, decided to hand out pictures of their dead miscarried baby at the funeral. The guys, who are rarely offended, find the entire thing disturbing. Don then talks about the holiday luncheon that the guys attended yesterday for the 5 CBS radio stations in Sacramento, G.M. Steve's speech at the gathering, Noodles having trouble finding a table to sit at, Steve Goss hugging everyone, Dave's constant trips outside to "feed the meter," and Don's conversation with Baltazar from Now 100. Don even calls up Baltazar to apologize for Dave's rudeness to him.
After discussing the fantasy football playoffs, in which Dave had the most total points on the season, but didn't get in because he didn't have enough wins, Don plays a video from Dave's Facebook page of a prank that he played on his children yesterday. We then hear a clip from Conan, in which he says that 75% of all people would rather have Christmas bonuses than an employee holiday party, and a clip from New England Patriots punter Zoltan Mesko saying "Santa Claus isn't real" in front of children.
The guys also talk about CBS, FOX, and NBC extending their deals with the NFL through the 2022 season, and how the NBA package still costs full price, even though the season has been shortened. Don then plays his library of tapes from his computer to see which ones belong in his instant replay machines. Don comes across his collection of East Coast Bob phone calls, and the guys spend the next half hour listening to Bob harass and torment radio stations across the country.
During one of the breaks, G.M. Steve gets on Dave for always going outside to smoke, and this starts a discussion on Dave's filthy habit. Don even sends Craig to Steve's office to ask him why he wants Dave to quit smoking, and would he give Dave a parking space in the front of the station if he does quit. Don then goes through more of his tapes, including Nancy Grace flipping out over the Casey Anthony verdict, Larry King's "paint your bald spot" clip, and Mr. Rodgers' "using the potty" clip. It's then time for the "Phantom News Hour." Among the stories today: The U.S. has officially ended the Iraq war, Jerry Sandusky's lawyer claiming Sandusky was "just trying to teach the kids how to bathe," Gawker.com's least fascinating people, and the Foo Fighters' "Wasting Light" voted by fans as the "Best Album of 2011" according to Rolling Stone. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
