The Don Geronimo Show - April 27, 2012
Don starts with a quick recap of last night's NFL first round draft, before going into the post show conversation involving Craig, Phantom, Little Joe, and Craig's "conversion route" comment. Joe and Phantom said they had never heard of a wide receiver in football running a "conversion route," in which a receiver changes his route, mid-route, to adjust to the defensive coverage, so Joe gave Sean Salisbury a call and asked him about it Sean said "absolutely, the New York Giants do it all the time." Craig, vindicated, floated and gloated around the office for the rest of the day, and even does did some gloating today. We also hear that Little Joe sent Joe Theismann a tweet with a picture of the play Craig drew up, and Theismann said it was "perfect!"
After hearing that Bart is coming to town this weekend, Bipolar Mary flaked on the movie screening last night, Little Joe's texting ticket he got yesterday, and the DJ's at the station across the street also hate Rob, Arnie, and Dawn, Don tells us about a new law in Egypt called the "Farewell Intercourse" Law, in which someone can have sex with their spouse up to 6 hours after they've died! Don then tells us about a new drink Janet stumbled upon yesterday, that contains Tang and cake flavored vodka. We then get a visit from Adam Goldberg, star of the new NBC program "NYC 22." Adam tells us a bit about the show, being in what Dave calls the "greatest death scene ever" in Saving Private Ryan, and the uniqueness of Dazed And Confused's following, which started cult, but has become very mainstream.
Don then calls his brother Jim, as Dave has been hounding him to do this for a while. Don calls him up, and then abruptly hangs up, just to mess with Dave. He does it one more time, before Jim stops answering his phone. Don tells Dave to leave a voicemail, asking all of his unanswered questions. After hearing a few lousy parody songs, Don plays a few mashup songs he found online, including Queen/Beatles, ABBA/Van Halen, The Doors/Michael Jackson, and Guns n' Roses/Rick Astley. It's then time fot the "Phantom News Hour." Today, among the stories: Sammy Hagar is putting together a Ronnie Montrose Tribute show, with Joe Satriani on guitar, a new "Dog Network," a Florida man flees a DUI scen because he "had the runs," and a teen gets kicked out of her prom for wearing a Confederate Flag dres.. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
