Teen Suspect Identified In Stockton Hit-And-Run
STOCKTON (CBS13) — A 17-year-old boy has been identified as the suspect in a Monday morning hit-and-run accident that badly injured a Stockton girl.
The boy, whose name hasn't been released because he's a juvenile, reportedly called police on Monday night after hitting Luz Cano Bustos near Franklin High School that morning and driving off. Bustos is a junior at the school.
The CHP has impounded the vehicle the boy was driving, a late model Ford Mustang. The suspect has not been booked as the CHP concludes its investigation to give to the district attorney's office.
Bustos remains in critical but stable condition, according to the CHP. She was walking in a crosswalk at about 6:30 a.m. Monday when she was hit and dragged.
Witnesses reported the vehicle speeding and running through stop signs before hitting Bustos.
