Investigators say Lindsey fired into a vehicle carrying Clavo, Johnson and others who were on their way to a team meeting before a Nov. 13 playoff game. Clavo died from his injuries.
Inside the courtroom, Lindsey appeared to be nervous and was very soft spoken. The judge has instructed for his face not to be shown inside the courtroom.
Lindsey requested an attorney be appointed to him.
His grandmother, Serella Ellis, spoke outside the courtroom after the hearing.
"I believe that my grandson is innocent and when they find the presumed whomever, let that be so. I believe he is innocent," she said.
