Suspect In Standoff Next To Capitol Speaks From Jail
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A SWAT team raided what is believed to be the apartment of the suspect involved in a bizarre standoff that happened next to the California State Capitol.
The incident caused much commotion at the Capitol on Monday afternoon, but that's not where things ended. Sometime overnight, both Sacramento police officers and SWAT team members showed up at what is believed to be Edgar Napoles Rodriguez' apartment complex.
Authorities say nothing of interest was discovered inside the 27-year-old's apartment.

In an interview from jail on Tuesday, Rodriguez insisted no one had anything to fear.
"So I didn't try to hurt anyone. that was not my intention," Rodriguez said. "I never had a bomb in my car, I never had a device [that looked] like a bomb."
Neighbors say it's not the first time officers have been by Rodriguez' place.
"He threw stuff off the balcony," said neighbor Jessica Todd-Hepburn. "And there was slamming … I personally called security because I didn't know if anybody was in danger or not."
Investigators also talked to Rodriguez' roommates.
Rodriguez is currently in Sacramento County Jail and is facing several charges, including possession of a hoax device and obstructing and resisting police officers.
He expected to be in court tomorrow afternoon.
During that standoff, the suspect posted photos of his perspective of the incident to Facebook. They show the notes that police negotiators woes wrote him during the standoff.
