Suspect At Large After SWAT Search In Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A suspect who fled into a Stockton neighborhood after allegedly aiming a gun at officers is still at large after a door-to-door manhunt Wednesday night.

The Stockton Police Department evacuated a two-block area near the intersection of South Sierra Nevada Street and East Sonora Street while SWAT team members searched yards and residences after the unidentified suspect ran through residential backyards following a violent traffic stop.

"He jumped our neighbor's fence and then jumped our other neighbor's fence, and that's when they lost him. I don't know, but the police didn't get hurt," said Jesus Alejandra, who witnessed the chase.

Stockton police spokesman Joe Silva said the suspect got out of his vehicle and aimed his gun at officers after he was pulled over, prompting one of the officers to open fire.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Despite conducting a door-to-door search of the area, officers were unable to locate the suspect. Authorities described him as a Hispanic male, about 17-20 years old.
