Students, Faculty Mobilize Weekend Search For Missing Teen

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Members of a Natomas charter high school say they plan to keep searching throughout the weekend for a student that was last seen more than two days ago.

Sergio Jimenez, 17, was last seen at NP3 Charter School at about 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and never made it onto the bus to his home.

The Sacramento Police Department sent up a helicopter for the second day Friday to search the mile between the school and his home, including fields and different neighborhoods he may have walked through.

None of the student's friends or classmates reported any unusual behavior from him in the hours leading up to his disappearance, making his absence all the more disquieting.

"One of the things that's so unique is it's so safe as a school. That's what makes it so frightening for folks," said Principal Tom Rutten.

Rutten and faculty members laid out a plan of action to continue searching for Jimenez again Saturday morning, and a number of students said they planned to join in.

Sacramento Police will help organize the search beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the gym on the NP3 campus on Del Paso Road in Natomas. Principal Rutten said he welcomes any help for the search.
