Stockton Man Arrested For Kidnapping, Molest Of 15-Year-Old Girl

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Stockton Police have arrested a man they say kidnapped and molested a 15-year-old girl.

Jerry Shaun Yarborough, 37, was arrested on Monday evening outside his home in the 100 block of Mosswood Avenue.

Police say Yarborough had taken the 15-year-old and held her against her will in his vehicle. A source told CBS13 the girl was taken on Saturday and she was finally able to escape on Monday when she called police.

Officers investigated and identified the suspect and were able to take him into custody.

Yarborough, who goes by a number of nicknames including Baby, Baby Deuce and Psycho, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. He's facing several charges including felony kidnapping, felony lewd acts upon a child, felony annoying or molesting a child under 18 and felony indecent exposure.

"These are very serious allegations against the suspect," Officer Joseph Silva said. "That's why we have to take this investigation seriously."

In addition to molestation charges, police arrested Yarborough for having drugs and a fake gun.

Police say the victim knew the suspect.

Outside his home, Yarborough's mother says she believes her son is innocent.

"I don't think he did it because he doesn't have to," Patricia Smith said. "What girl? There was no girl in the car with him."

This isn't the first time Yarborough has been in trouble with the law.

According to court records, police have arrested him for robbery, stealing cars and assault.

There's also an arrest from 2008. Police cuffed Yarborough for kidnap and rape. Sources say the alleged victim was also a teen.

Court documents show prosecutors dropped the case because there wasn't enough evidence.

Yarborough's mother recalls the incident and a confrontation with the alleged victim.

"They went and told their mother that he kidnapped them and came here and I asked the girl 'What did he do to you?' and she said, 'Nothing.'"

Police planned to meet with the teen and her family again Tuesday to continue the investigation. Yarborough is expected in court Wednesday.

He is being held on $326,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
