Snowboarder Bandit Takes Cash In 10th Heist
IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — A bank robber dubbed the Snowboarder Bandit has now suspected in 10 Southern California heists.
FBI Special Agent Chris Gicking says he robbed a U.S. Bank branch in an Irvine grocery store on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators have nicknamed him the Snowboarder Bandit because he often wears a knit hat, has a youthful appearance, is unshaven and wears snowboarding clothes.
In the latest Orange County heist, he was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
City News Service says the bandit apparently tried to rob a Citibank branch in Irvine on Saturday, the same bank he robbed in January. Gicking says he apparently got spooked while waiting for a teller and left.
The Snowboarder Bandit is also the suspected in heists since December in Laguna Hills, Anaheim Hills and Ladera Ranch.
