Sibling Fight Lands Wilton Boy In The Hospital

WILTON, Calif. (CBS13) -- A 13-year-old Wilton girl is in Juvenile Hall after she beat up her brother so badly that he had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The brutal beating took place on Monday afternoon in the 7000 block of Barbera Avenue. According to Merced County Deputy Tom MacKenzie, the girl was in her bedroom, which she shares with her 12-year-old brother, when the two had an argument. She told her mother that her brother was "getting on her nerves" and said she wanted to beat him up. She says her mother told her to "go ahead" and walked away.

The girl allegedly punched and slammed the boy to the ground until relatives finally stepped in and stopped the fight. He was flown to a Modesto area hospital for head trauma and later released.

Deputies were called about the fight two hours after the incident. When they arrived at the home they arrested the girl on the charges of battery with serious injury, and booked her into Juvenile Hall.

Family witnesses deny hearing the mother give her daughter permission to hurt the boy.

It's unknown at this point if the mother will also face criminal charges.
