SEIU 1021 Workers Picketing In San Joaquin County

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Workers represented by the Service Employees International Union, or SEIU, 1021 in San Joaquin County are picketing on Tuesday.

Nearly 4,400 workers claim the county has violated the rules of collective bargaining.

Their contract expired on June 30.

The striking workers say their biggest concern is the high number of unfilled county positions.

San Joaquin County Administrator reports that the landfill now closed because of the strike. The juvenile hall is also reporting some issues, the administrator reports, but the hall is using private staff to work day shifts along with their night shifts.
