Second Suspect Arrested In Modesto Kidnappings
MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) -- The second suspect wanted in connection with the kidnapping and assault of two teen girls has been arrested, according to authorities.
The Modesto Police Department said 20-year-old Marcus Jamal Rucker, of Modesto, was arrested Monday night for the January 5 kidnappings of two 14-year-old girls.
Authorities arrested 28-year-old Christopher Lewis Armstrong, also of Modesto, last Friday.
The two men allegedly approached the victims near Colfax Avenue and El Vista Avenue as the girls were walking home from school.
The two victims entered the suspects' gold Chevy Avalanche, but one was able to escape the car about a mile away and asked for help, reporting her friend was being held against her will.
The second girl was found a short time later, and both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Armstrong was arrested on a number of charges, including kidnapping, attempted murder and sexual assault. Rucker was booked into jail on charges of aiding in kidnapping and sexual assault.
