Second Cab Driver Attacked In Two Days
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A cab driver was assaulted and carjacked overnight in what police are calling the second brutal attack on a driver in as many days.
The victim told police the suspect began acting strangely and didn't have any particular destination, and when the cab driver pulled into a gas station near the intersection of 16th Street and W Street, the suspect attacked him in the back seat.
"The suspect refused to get out, punched the cab driver a couple times in the back of the head," said Sacramento Taxi Cab Association spokesperson Kazman Zaidi.
The victim got out of the driver's seat, and surveillance video shows the suspect jumping into the cab and driving away.
The incident comes on the heels of an attack and armed robbery on another cab driver. The unidentified suspect in that crime pulled a gun on the driver, punched him repeatedly and stole his taxi van.
No arrests have been made in either incident.
