Safety Fixes Coming For Dangerous Roseville Road

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — A dangerous stretch of roadway with frequent accidents and tricky curves is set for improvements.

"Even if it's easier to get to where I'm getting, I'll avoid it if I can," said longtime Roseville resident Liza Ramirez.

She's talking about a section of Roseville Road that she says is dangerous.

"When you come to where the curve is you can't see what's coming from the other side," she said.

Even the city admits it's a dangerous road with the high volume of traffic, and also near the S-curve in the roadway south of Cirby Way.

The City of Roseville will soon begin work with a goal of improving safety and traffic flow by smoothing the curves and adding a bike lane and lights.

The road now handles around 20,000 cars a day and traffic modeling by the city shows it will be going to more than 35,000 cars soon, as the region grows.

Drivers may want to avoid it as construction gets under way in the next few weeks. City leaders tell me the work will go on during the day and drivers should expect delays. It's expected to be finished before the end of the year.
