Sacramento Man's Cameras Capture Sex, Drug Deals At Park To Send Message

By Kelly Ryan

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento man is getting international attention after his YouTube videos of a park near his home went viral.

Marty says at night, the beautiful park during the day turns into something completely different at night. He's recording what happens after the sun goes down and posts the videos for everyone to see in hopes it could bring change.

"There are people having sex, people urinating. people doing drugs," he said.

He decided he had to take things into his own hands.

"There's no hiding; the equipment is right out here in the open," he said.

His sophisticated surveillance system catches everything.

"People do things in front of my house that they wouldn't do in front of their own because they're ashamed to do it for their own house," he said.

In an effort to show others what he and his neighbors have to deal with he posts the videos to a YouTube channel. That channel was recently highlighted by tabloid magazine shows both here and In the UK and he saw his subscribers skyrocket from 15 to 4,000 into two days.

Marty says he and his neighbors call the authorities but understand the neighborhood is not a top priority.

He gives the license plates of he catches with his cameras to the sheriff's department. He has confronted people in the park, something the sheriff's department says is not recommended.

Marty says they just keep coming back. He hopes his videos now in the media spotlight will highlight his own camera spotlight and serve as a warning—this park is being watched.

"We hope that the park will get cleaner and better," he said.

Which park is it? Marty asked CBS13 not to name it, because he's afraid people will come out to watch the show.

The sheriff's department says it's received complaints from neighbors and will be working with neighborhood watch groups to try and solve the park problems.
