FOLSOM – A Sacramento man charged in connection with a teenager's fentanyl overdose death at an Elk Grove park in 2021 is now accused of being responsible for a similar death in Folsom, police said on Tuesday.

Keon Taylor, 22, was arrested back on January 8 for the Elk Grove incident and has remained in jail with no opportunity for bail as he faces charges of homicide and transporting a controlled substance.

The Folsom Police Department has now announced that Taylor has been linked as a suspect in the fentanyl overdose death of a 19-year-old that happened on December 13, 2024, along Natoma Street.

Folsom police said their investigation into Taylor, after identifying him as a suspect, uncovered evidence that tied him to the Elk Grove incident, which led to the reopening of the 2021 case and Taylor's eventual arrest.

Once an official coroner's report was released Tuesday, confirming fentanyl overdose as the cause of death for the Folsom incident, an additional murder charge was filed against Taylor, police said.

The Folsom Police Department said this is the first time a single drug dealer has been charged in two separate fentanyl overdose deaths.
