Sacramento Kings sign former No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz for remainder of season
SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Kings and former No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz have agreed to a contract for the rest of the season, the team announced Wednesday night.
Fultz was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Washington by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Fultz played in 33 games for the Sixers but was traded to the Orlando Magic in 2019 for Jonathon Simmons, a second-round pick and a first-round pick.
In 2019, ahead of the trade, Fultz underwent shoulder surgery that affected his shooting stroke.
During his five years in Orlando, he played in 201 games, averaging 11.6 points, 4.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds.
The 26-year-old guard will add depth to the Kings, who traded star De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs earlier this month.
Wednesday's news comes after the Kings took down the New Orleans Pelicans 119-111.
