Sacramento deputies recover $19K of stolen Ulta Beauty products; 2 arrested and released, deputies say
SACRAMENTO – Two suspects from Southern California were arrested in Sacramento County after more than $19,000 worth of stolen products from Ulta Beauty were found in their vehicle, authorities said on Friday. But deputies say they've been released from jail and may be connected to other crimes in the area.
Last week, detectives with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Property Crimes unit were contacted by loss prevention at Ulta Beauty, who said two of their Sacramento-area locations were victims of large-volume thefts.
Authorities said the two suspects had been detained by security officers at Nordstrom's Rack on Ethan Way in connection with a separate retail theft.
Deputies responded to Nordstrom Rack and identified the suspects as 21-year-old Nicool Rivera Martinez and 24-year-old Estefan Rodriguez, both of San Bernardino County.
During a search of their vehicle, deputies said they found more than $19,000 worth of products that had been taken from the two Ulta stores. Authorities add that a list of other Ulta stores across Northern California was found in the vehicle.
The suspects were booked into jail for organized retail theft and detectives secured a bail enhancement of $100,000.
However, deputies said the suspects were released from jail on Wednesday and are scheduled to return to court on Feb. 18.
Detectives believe the suspects were involved in other unreported retail theft crimes throughout the Sacramento area. Anyone who has information is urged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
