Protesters Take To Streets Of Sacramento After Donald Trump Win

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Donald Trump's presidential win is sparking protests across the country from New York to Chicago to the streets of downtown Sacramento.

"Listen to this message, "people united will never be divided," said Jamier Sale of Answer Coalition. "You can go to each of these people and they will tell you Trump is a racist, and does not represent them."

The crowd marched from Fifth and I streets to the Capitol and the federal court house, fighting for their voices to be heard.

"We saw throughout his campaign that he's sexist, he's homophobic, he's against women, and working people won't stand for that," said protester Yeimi Lopez.

Under the watch of Sacramento police, the demonstrators, mainly millennials, said they're standing up against racism, against Trumps policies, the wall he intends to build, and for the rights of working people.

"There's anger, there's frustration, and with good reason, because the words Trump uttered to the masses is not ok," said Lopez.

Others were too stunned by the election results to even express their anger.

"I'm speechless right now, of what's really happening, " said Areli Aguayo.

Meanwhile in downtown Los Angeles, thousands of people massed near City Hall echoing the same discontent holding signs and chanting "not my president."

Crowds even set a piñata of Trump's head on fire.

In Oakland a crowd of more than 6000 showed up. There were some reports of police having to use pepper spray to keep things in control.

The protests in Sacramento remained peaceful.
