UPDATE: 7-Year-Old Molested At Park; 15-Year-Old Suspect Arrested
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A 7-year-old boy was reportedly sexually molested at a south Sacramento park on Tuesday night and a 15-year-old suspect has been arrested.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. at Sim Park at 6207 Logan Street, off Lemon Hill Avenue, which is near Elder Creek Elementary School, Sacramento police said. The 7-year-old boy ran off and told his parents, who called police.
"That's very shocking and disturbing to hear," a neighbor said.
The suspect, who police say was a stranger to the boy, was caught on video surveillance and arrested at a group home nearby. Neighbors say the home is for intellectually disadvantaged boys.
"We have a good picture of the suspect," Sacramento Police Sgt. Andrew Pettit said of the surveillance footage of the suspect, who added that when officers went to the home, they found the teen matching the description and wearing the same clothes as in the surveillance footage.
After interviewing the boy for about an hour, police officially arrested the 15-year-old. He was booked into Juvenile Hall.
