Police Chase In South Sacramento Ends In Crash
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A total of seven people, including a police officer, were injured in two crashes on Meadowview Road early Wednesday morning.
Sacramento Police say they were chasing a BMW heading eastbound on Meadowview when the car crossed over to the westbound lane and slammed head-on into a Prius.
"Once I seen the car the way it was … I know now it was a safe car, 'cause if you get hit at 80 miles per hour head on and you survive, it's a good car," said Michael Reliford, the father of the driver of the Prius.
An hour into the investigation, a car blew through the blockade and hit a police vehicle. Debris from the crash hit an officer, sending him to the hospital to be evaluated.
Reliford says his son is numb on one side, but is expected to be OK. The officer is also expected to be OK.
One person injured in the crash is in serious condition.
Police have not commented on why they were chasing the BMW.
