Pipeline Break Sparks Fire Near Rio Vista
RIO VISTA (CBS13) — A natural gas pipeline ruptured east of Rio Vista on Friday night, sparking a fire that shot up large flames, but the blaze was in a an open field and extinguished without any structures threatened.
According to Capt. Scott Bahrenfuss of the Rio Vista Fire Department, the pipe was an 8-inch line that was isolated in a field near a well head.
The fire was near compressor plant in the middle of a dirt field off Highway 160, south of Highway 12. It started at about 6 p.m. and was out before 6:30.
