New Sexual Assault Under Investigation At Davis Group Home

DAVIS (CBS13) — Another sexual-assault allegation involving a teenage girl is putting a Davis group home back in the spotlight.

Police arrested a 17-year old male on Friday on allegations he sexually assaulted a 13-year old girl who ran away from FamiliesFirst. Police say the suspect was not connected to the care home.

"There doesn't appear to be any direct supervision at the time that this occurred," said Davis Police Lt. Glenn Glasgow.

It comes at a time when the group home is already under investigation by state officials and local police for lack of supervision. Officers say they've been called to the facility around 500 times in just the past five months, with most calls related to children running away.

Last week, two boys who live at the home were arrested for raping an 11-year-old girl, who also lives at the home, off-campus.

Joseph George is a psychologist and attorney that represents sexual-assault victims. While he isn't handling cases against the group home, he says FamiliesFirst could be held liable for the trauma inflicted by the attacks.

"Because they have had repeated problems and they've been written up repeatedly, that's why they have exposure," George said. "It's not the first time they've had a kid sneak out unsupervised."
