Fast-Moving Jerusalem Fire Grows To 5,000 Acres, Prompts Evacuations

LAKE COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities have issued mandatory evacuations due to a growing fire in the Jerusalem Valley area, just south of the massive Rocky Fire.

The fire, being called the Jerusalem Fire, has burned 5,000 acres as of Monday morning, according to Cal Fire.

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for the area of Jerusalem Valley, east of Soda Creek, to Spruce Grove Road. Jerusalem Valley Road is closed to all traffic at Spruce Grove Road.

Resources once devoted to the Rocky Fire still smoldering nearby are being diverted to fight the Jerusalem Fire.

An evacuation center has been set up at Middletown High School.
