Modesto man driving Mustang dies after losing control in rain and crashing, police say

MODESTO – A man has died after police said he lost control in the rain and crashed into a truck in Modesto Thursday morning.

The Modesto Police Department said the crash happened around 10 a.m. on West Orangeburg Avenue near Evergreen Drive.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated the driver of a black Ford Mustang was heading east on West Orangeburg Drive when he collided with a Dodge Ram near Evergreen Drive.

Officers told CBS News Sacramento that the driver of the Mustang lost control while driving in the rain and hit the truck.

The Mustang driver was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said. His identification has not been released, but police said he was a Modesto resident.

The driver of the Dodge was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Modesto Police Department.
