Modesto Citibank Robbed; Search For Suspect Unsuccessful
MODESTO (CBS13) - A Modesto bank was robbed Monday afternoon and police were searching the area by ground and air looking for the suspect.
The Citibank at 1340 Oakdale Road was robbed at about 3:22 p.m., forcing a KinderCare learning center and daycare right down the street at 1237 Oakdale Road to go into lockdown.
The man was armed with a shotgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Modesto police.
Multiple officers, including two K9 units, and a Stanislaus County sheriff's helicopter searched the nearby neighborhood for the suspect.
A canine was used to track the suspect down an alley and to a vacant residence in the 1300 block of Sunland Way. Officers checked the residence and the canine continued to track to the front roadyway of the residence, where the trail ended. The suspect may have fled in a waiting vehicle, police said.
The suspect is described as a white male adult, about 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and wearing a ski mask that concealed his face.
