Massive Tree Falls On Parking Lot In Downtown Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Heavy winds caused a lot of damage in the area, including a massive tree that came crashing down in downtown Sacramento, taking out a half dozen cars.

The tree was on the grounds of Capitol Towers Apartments in downtown Sacramento on 7th Street. However, the majority of the tree landed in the parking lot of the retirement housing foundation next door.

The pine tree, which was at least 80 feet tall, smothered a half dozen cars and caused various degrees of damage.

Neighbors say they've been worried the tree would fall for years but management at Capitol Towers say no one voiced concerns to them.

No people were in the parking lot when the tree fell.
