Man Who Killed Baby Found Suitable For Parole

WOODLAND, Calif. (CBS13) ― A Woodland man who has spent nearly three decades in prison for killing his girlfriend's baby has been found suitable to be released back into Yolo County, according to authorities.

Christopher Fowler, 49, was convicted in 1984 for murdering a 22-month-old baby boy, named Aaron, after growing furious over the child's crying.

Fowler slapped the boy in the face and threw him into the ground at least twice, authorities said. The boy was in a coma for two days until he finally succumbed to the injuries on November 3, 1983.

Sandra Davis, Aaron's aunt, has been fighting to keep Fowler behind bars and says she is trying everything she can to reverse the parole board's decision.

"For him to come to Yolo County or anywhere, we would have to see him. It would be devastating and I'm hoping that the community would help us to keep that prisoner in prison," Sandra said.

Aaron's mother passed away a few years ago, Sandra added. "Very tough, it's been hard. It's been a long time, I miss them both very much."

The parole board's decision has not been finalized. Officials still have about 120 days to determine whether he should be released, and the governor could always reverse the decision.
