RIO LINDA – An investigation is underway after a shooting left one person hurt in Sacramento County late Monday morning.

It happened along the 7500 block of Bergen Way in the Rio Linda community.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene just before 10:30 a.m. and found a man who had been shot in the torso.

CBS13 spoke to a neighbor who said she called 911 after hearing two gunshots and then a man screaming for help.

Cindy Harrison, who lives across from the man who was shot, said she went outside and saw him in the middle of the street. What she didn't realize, she said, was that the man was her neighbor until she got closer and saw he was bleeding.

"I didn't know he was shot or where he was shot. I was able to see that he had blood coming from the left lower side of his back," Harrison said.

She said she called law enforcement and other neighbors came out to help. At one point, she said, she brought out towels so that neighbors could put pressure on the gunshot wound.

Her security camera captured audio of the incident including the man's vehicle pulling up to his home, yelling, two gunshots, and then the man's calls for help.

Harrison said he stayed conscious while she spoke to him and waited for law enforcement. She said the neighbor told her he saw someone on his security camera at his house and raced home to check things out.

That man was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Exactly what led up to the shooting is under investigation.
