Man Gets 10 Life Terms For '09 Club Shooting
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- A San Joaquin County gang member has been sentenced to 10 consecutive life terms for fatally shooting one man and injuring six others in a crowded nightclub in 2009.
The Contra Costa Times reports that a judge on Monday ordered 25-year-old Michael Mau to serve more than 200 years in prison for the shooting at Amore's Italian Restaurant in Tracy.
He was convicted in November of 13 charges, including second-degree murder for the death of 41-year-old Naim Bey.
A fellow gang member, Mark Garcia, testified during the trial that Mau had shot into the nightclub after the two of them were kicked out for fighting.
Mau has maintained his innocence and told the court Monday that he plans to appeal.
