UPDATE: Man Fatally Shot Inside North Natomas Home; Son Arrested

NATOMAS (CBS13) - A man was shot in a normally quiet north Natomas neighborhood on Monday afternoon and his 24-year-old son was arrested.

The man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was shot and killed inside a house in the 2100 block of Peakview Avenue just off Banfield. His son, 24-year-old son Jason Felder, was taken into custody by Sacramento Police. Felder surrendered to police without incident.

The shooting shocked other family members.

Victor Felder says his mom and dad live at the house.

"When I saw the news, that's my parent's house," he said.

Both he and his sister saw their parent's home on the TV news and rushed over. More family showed up crying and confused, comforting each other. To hear that a family member may have murdered one of their own was baffling.

"Everything was fine," Victor Felder said.

It was just this past weekend everyone was together. Victor Felder said it was a happy time.

"It's unbelievable. It's like a bad dream," he said. "We just saw [his father] a couple of days ago. I was just at my brother's graduation. We were all together at a graduation. We were just there. I don't understand."

The incident was also surprising to neighbors.

"Nothing like this has ever happened like this on our street before," Shannon Bachelier said.

Parents and young children in the quiet north Natomas community were just getting home to see police cars, crime tape and homicide investigators.

"This is nice, quiet family street," Bachelier said. "Everybody knows everybody."

"I remember seeing them a couple a days ago and wave at them so it's really strange," Xavier Arevalo said.

Somebody inside the home called 911 at 4:14 p.m. When police and paramedics got there, the victim was already dead.
