Man Charged With Punching Sacramento Police Officer In Face
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man causing a disturbance in downtown Sacramento on Thursday then punched an officer as he was being arrested, police said.
A witness called police saying a man wearing only shorts was standing in the roadway and running in and out of traffic at 16th and K streets.
As officers arrived, the man, later identified as Gregory Stephenson, 56, reportedly ran into an office at a nearby business, briefly grabbed the arm of a female customer, then ran off.
After officers attempted to detain Stephenson, he reportedly punched one of them in the face.
Stephenson was booked at the Sacramento County Jail and charged with assaulting a police officer. He was released on Friday, according to jail records.
