UPDATE: Man Surrenders After Barricading Self In Land Park Home

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - An apparent domestic dispute turned into a police situation in the Land Park area of Sacramento on Thursday night when a man barricaded himself inside a home before eventually surrendering peacefully.

The man, identified by Sacrament police as Gregory Dumond, 48, was inside a home in the 1300 block of 7th Avenue and refused to come out. He apparently tossed a gun out of the home before eventually giving himself up at about 7:30 p.m., nearly three hours after the incident began.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at about 4:45 p.m. There was a report of seven shots heard fired inside the home, then screaming, but it turns out those sounds were Dumond trying to get into the home after his elderly mother kicked him, police said.

"He's obviously distraught. There's some issues there we're trying to work out," Sacramento Police Sgt. Andrew Pettit said.

Dumond was arrested for false imprisonment, brandishing a weapon and destruction of a wireless device. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail.

The portion of 7th Avenue from between Land Park Drive and Riverside Boulevard was blocked and some homes evacuated during the incident.

His mother and sister returned to the home after Dumond was arrested.
