Kings Bring Back Black Jerseys; Announce 'Blackout' Season Opener
NATOMAS (CBS13) -- The Sacramento Kings unveiled a new alternative black jersey and a "blackout" season opener during a press conference at Power Balance Pavilion on Wednesday.
The black jersey combines "past and present to create a contemporary vision reminiscent of the black jersey donned by beloved Kings teams of the late '90s and early 2000s," the Kings said in a press release.
The team will wear the black jerseys for its 2011-12 season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Dec. 26. All fans in attendance that night will receive a commemorative black T-shirt.
"We are honored to bring the black jersey back to our fans," Craig Amazeen, Kings senior vice president of broadcasting, new media and brand development, said in the press release. "The resurrection of this sacred artifact, along with the introduction of the 'Back-in-Black Pack' and the 'blackout' against the Lakers, captures the epic feeling of what will be a defining season."
The Back-in-Black Pack is a ticket package for the Kings' first for home games: Dec. 26 against the Lakers, Dec. Dec. 29 against the Chicago Bulls, New Year's Eve against the New York Knicks and New Year's Day against the New Orleans Hornets.
