Imposter Steals From Teachers While Posing As Tutor

STOCKTON (CBS13) -- Investigators are searching for a woman who stole from teachers at a Stockton elementary school while posing as a volunteer tutor Wednesday.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said the unidentified young woman walked onto the campus of Colonial Heights Elementary school and told staff in the school office that she was a tutor, even signing in under a fake name and taking a vistor's pass.

Rather than heading to help students, the suspect allegedly wandered the halls in search of empty rooms, pocketing at least two teachers' wallets.

The woman was last seen driving out of the parking lot in a newer model red Ford Mustang.

A spokesperson for the Lincoln Unified School District said officials are adjusting their visitor policy and working to make sure staff confirms that unfamiliar visitors are checked out before being allowed on campus.

Authorities didn't say how much money the suspect took during the crime.
