Husband And Wife Recount Run-In With Gunmen

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A husband and wife experienced a terrifying Tuesday night in Citrus Heights, and Wednesday night they walked CBS13 through how it all went down.

The truck driver and maintenance man was walking in front of his house when out of nowhere a suspect charged him with a gun.

"He sticks the gun into my face and grabs me by the arm and then takes the gun and shoves it into my ribs," he said.

His wife stepped outside to see what was going on. "And I heard him fighting, like tussling."

She saw the gun and ran back inside but didn't realize their was a second gunman.

"I turned to run back in the house and I had a hand grab me by the neck and put the gun to the back of my head," she said.

One suspect had the wife at gunpoint in the house with her children. The husband says the suspect was also trying to force him into the house, but he refused. Instead, he yelled for help.

"Call 911. They're trying to rob me," he said. "He's telling me to shut up and come in the house."

"He's fighting with the man that has the gun," his wife said.

Inside the house his pregnant wife was forced to the floor with a gun trained on her.

"It was so huge it was almost unreal," she said. "The barrel itself had to be eight inches."

He demanded what little they did have.

"Where's the safe?" the woman recalled him saying. "Don't play with me. I'll blow your head off."

Police say Charvelle Clark was the gunman in the house. As police arrived, Clark ran out the back door but was quickly arrested. The other suspect got away.

The wife appreciates her husband's quick thinking to keep the other robber outside.

"If they would have got us all in this house and then together they would have complete control of everything," she said. "My husband never ceases to amaze me."

Still, he knows he's lucky the situation could have gone terribly wrong.

"I thank God I'm here today because he could have took me from my family."
