Hurricane Sandy Forces Hundreds Of Flight Cancellations In California
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS13) — Dozens of flights to and from the East Coast from California have been cancelled Monday as Hurricane Sandy bears down on that part of the country.
Flights at Sacramento International, San Francisco International, LAX and others have been canceled or delayed due to the monster storm.
Only a few flights Monday morning were impacted at Sacramento International but other bigger West Coast airports like San Francisco and LAX had dozens of flights scrubbed.
Airlines have cancelled flights to and from six East Coast cities as the storm advances. Affected airports include John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport in New York, Newark Liberty International Airport, Baltimore Washington International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia International Airport, SFO Duty Manager Nancy Parker said.
Several major airlines are also canceling flights to and from Logan International Airport in Boston, she said.
Passengers should contact their airline carriers for information on their flights before heading to the airport Monday, Parker said.
Flight cancellations to and from the East Coast were expected to continue for up to 48 hours, she said.
There have been more than 9,000 canceled flights nationwide due to the hurricane.
