House Catches Fire Natomas, Spreads To Second Home
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A house caught fire in a Natomas neighborhood and and spread to a second home after a projector apparently ignited.
The two-alarm fire was at 3012 Tintorera Way and the smoke was visible for miles off Interstate 80 and I-5. It started some time around 11 a.m. and was under control in about an hour, but not before spreading to a house next door after it jumped the fence.
The projector lamp apparently exploded and ignited the blaze. The homeowner said while he was in the shower, he could smell something burning. The homeowner said he returned to his office and it was engulfed in flames.
"I opened the door and noticed a huge fire coming from the computer desk," Montoya Graham said. "By that time it spread behind the cords and hit the carpet and it was just to late."
Graham ran out the back door with his dog but forgot his cell phone.
"I ran outside and realized my cell phone was next to my computer, so I didn't have no way to call 911," he said. "Luckily I looked and I saw the mailman outside, ran down the street and told him to call 911."
The house where the fire originated is three bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,282 square feet, according to online records. It was built in 2002. No damage estimate was immediately available. No one was hurt in the incident.
"It could be worse, I could have been in the fire, someone could have lost their life," he said. "You got to be thankful for what you have."
