Hottest Temperatures Still Ahead In Heat Streak

The unseasonably hot weather continues into the workweek with some of the hottest temperatures so far in this heat wave.

Sacramento will climb to 111 degrees by Tuesday. Wednesday will mean more similar temperatures, which will likely break records for that day.

The normal temperature for this time of year is 90 degrees.

We are waiting for a very strong ridge of high pressure to budge, so cooler air can start to move into the valley. The high pressure ridge will finally start to collapse as we get into Thursday.

Although it will still be hot, temperatures will fall into the upper and mid 90s by the weekend.

Don't look for rain in the valley at all this week, but a few high Sierra thunderstorms are possible for Monday and Tuesday.

In the end, this heat wave will mean eight days of high temperatures at or above 100 degrees. However, doesn't break the record of 11 straight days of 100 degree or higher set in 2006.
